A new project

January 21, 2022

Happy New Year to everyone and a big welcome to all our new followers.
Just to let you know that my new project will be to add more of the original drawings from ‘Looking at Birds’ to the website.
Some are already here in the book illustration gallery   but there are plenty more in my book folder.
Contrasting the originals with the printed page is always interesting. There are often subtle differences in colour due to the printing process, and with a digital copy the designer can make adjustments to the sizes of the pictures as they want.  Less usual is when the composition of the picture changes as with the picture of cranes, adjusted to fit a squarer page size.
I hope to make headway with these illustrations in the next few weeks – but if you have the book and particularly like an illustration there, do get in touch with the page number and I’ll let you know if it is one of the originals we still have.
NB if you don’t have the book you can buy one here!
